Project Challenges

Additionally, the roof's architecture featured varying pitches up to 7/12 and multiple obstacles, including a wide chimney and several ventilation pipes. Operating on these steep slopes while safely extracting heavy debris without damaging the home's surrounding landscaping or walkways required rigorous site control and advanced fall-protection protocols.

Our Solution

Worker safety dictated our operational approach. Before removing any decking, our technicians secured heavy-duty lifelines, utilizing full-body harnesses to safely navigate the steep pitches. We executed the necessary roof deck resheeting, laying down a solid, fresh wood foundation. Over this new deck, we rolled out the GAF Weather Stopper System, specifically utilizing GAF TigerPaw synthetic underlayment to provide a highly breathable, moisture-resistant barrier that locks out wind-driven rain.

To solve the drainage issues around the masonry, we built and installed a custom chimney cricket, expertly flashing the integration points to ensure water flows cleanly past the obstacle. We then installed the GAF Timberline HDZ Reflector Series shingles in a rich, multi-dimensional brown tone. These highly reflective shingles are specifically engineered to reduce solar heat gain within the attic. Our crew meticulously wove the shingles around newly installed pipe flashings and capped the roof with a high-performance ridge vent system to optimize airflow. Throughout the entire process, we performed continuous material pickup, ensuring the yard remained hazard-free.
