Project Challenges

More critically, the metal flashing within the primary roof valleys was heavily rusted, buckled, and failing, leaving the underlying decking exposed to major water intrusion. The home's architecture featured steep pitches and complex converging angles, presenting a high fall risk for the crew. Additionally, managing the tear-off debris in a residential setting with nearby vehicles and RVs required meticulous site control to prevent property damage and keep the grounds free of stray nails and old materials.

Our Solution

Worker safety dictated our approach from day one. Before any tear-off began, our technicians secured heavy-duty lifelines and wore full-body harnesses to safely navigate the steep slopes while operating pneumatic nail guns and circular saws.

We executed a complete roof tear-off, stripping away the rusted valley metal and compromised felt. Where the underlying wood was damaged, we custom-cut and installed fresh OSB structural decking to ensure a flawless nailing surface. With the deck prepped, we rolled out the GAF Weather Stopper System, utilizing GAF Tiger Paw synthetic underlayment to provide a highly breathable, moisture-resistant barrier across the entire roof deck.

Our crew then installed 16SQ of GAF Comp Lifetime Shingles. We carefully wove the new shingles through the critical valley sections and installed brand-new, heavy-gauge metal flashing and premium sealant around all roof penetrations, including exhaust vents and the tall metal chimney pipe. Throughout the reroofing process, our team prioritized ongoing material pick-up, immediately bagging and hauling away torn shingles and underlayment to maintain a spotless, safe worksite.
